Hey all, I'd like to store our inflatable close to the boat but hate leaving it in water and I dont want it on deck thru winter... I thought of perhaps some sort of frame with floating barrels to keep it out of the water. Anyone seen anything like that or have any ideas how this can be done ? we have a 10 foot with wood floor....

thanks !

Dink storage

You can make a simple float; get four of those big clear plastic storage tubs from Target, attach them to a four by eight sheet of plywood. Viola! You can make it as plain or fancy as you need/want.

Re: Dink storage

I like that but sholdnt it be sealed ? I'm thinking like a barrel or floating material of some kind... just want to do this on the cheap so I dont have to worry if it has to be replaced in a season or two. I'm also not sure how much floatation I need, in air or foam, to float a wood floor dingy, any opinions ?

Re: Dink storage

THe dinghy probably weighs around 100 pounds, motor and fuel might add another 100... certainly shouldn't take much to float it. I'm thinking that a couple of pieces of six inch PVC drain pipe capped at the ends and strapped perpendicularly to 3 or 4 pieces of 5/4 treated decking would do the trick without getting too fancy.
