storage hatch

I have a 95 23.5,was thinking out putting an access hatch in cockpit sole to gain access to storage at stern of boat.Figure 20x13 hatch.real pain to get to area from berths,great place for fenders etc.Anyone do anything similar in their 23.5.Thanks

Some models and years of the Cherubinis have that for engine access. Keeping it from leaking is a constant battle for those that have it. You would need to reinforce the sole, probably by glassing a couple of stringers underneath. If you could design it with a raised lip it would help with keeping it sealed.
