Still looking for a catalina 22 slide out galley for a 72 model. Does anyone have any ideas?? Other options would also be greatly appreciated, the boat just seems to be missing something without the galley, if any one else is missing theirs , What do you do in that spot?? Thanks, Troy Baker

Sliding Galley

I have a 73 "2226". I threw the sliding galley out. It got in the way, took up too much space, and was another source of mess I didn't feel I wanted to mess with. I use the galley stowage area for "bed boards" and back pack storage. I fabricated two bed boards made up from reinforced plywood in order to allow my wife and I to sleep athwart ships (side to side) using the galley table and starboard bench as resting places for the boards. We get way more room for sleeping, and don't have to mess with the sliding galley. I enjoy the camping stove and other assorted camp cooking gear a whole lot more, less stuff to get greasy and smelly on you in the long run. Campy out!

galley

Troy................ Many sailors got rid of their slide out galley's because they feel that it is a waste of space and could use the limited space for other purposes. On the other hand......... finding a used one is pretty tough. One alternative is to build your own...... since you live in Montana..... it would seem to me..... it would be an excellent winter project. There is a webpage that has all the specifications (original plans from Catalina)to build your own............ if interested ... let me know off list and I will research it for you and send you the diy plans. Personally............ I have a slide out galley that came with the boat........... and I use it all the time (to each his own). kennethbernard2@attbi.com Good luck!!

slide out galley

I had one listed for sale last summer for $475 and no takers. Now I've added the boat to the galley package.

Who Needs It

I have A 1982 C22 that came that came with the galley and I to found that it took up too much space. I bought 2 sterlite tubs & a cooler and they all will fit in the old galley space. This system holds more food and utensils and is a lot handier. We use camping style water jugs which hold more and fresher water. We cook on a Magna Party grill and with a butane single burner stove works great.
