Stiff Throttle

I recently lubed my throttle and transmission cables, plus inside the MV remote control mechanism at the helm. Yanmar 3GM
My question is why I have very smooth motion of the throttle when the engine is off, but when motoring the throttle is very stiff still (not the shifting).
I also had set the idle point recently if that matters
Thanks for any thoughts

Assuning a single lever control.... Sounds like there is something binding in the control head.. If you can push the shift button and rev the engine smoothly but when you try to shift into gear, it binds, (and you've verified no binding in the cable itself) then something in the sliders inside the control is the culprit..

Thanks. I recently greased everything I could in the control mechanism. Maybe I messed something up. I can take another look, but I have to take the entire top off the Edson pedestal again. About 14 or so big screws.
Unless there is a way to get at it from the outside at the actual throttle handle. I believe the control is a MV type.
