Stiff shifting lever

On my 1980 Catalina 30, the shift lever is so stiff that I can hardly move it. It takes 2 hands and all my strngth to move it. I am afraid I will break the lever off. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Post reply here or to e-mail: waldos@juno.com

Shift cable corrosion

Just replaced the shift cable in my 81' (easy to do) the cable corrodes & gets hard to move. Replace it before you damage your shift mechanism ($300+ for the shifter vs. about $40 for the cable) I had to have mine built by fisheries supply Co. in Seattle. I have the near floor mounted levers on the port side of the cockpit. You'll have to read the specs stamped into the cable housing to get the right replacement.
