For years I have used 1/2" moring lines for my Pearson 26 and everything was fine. I bought six new lines last spring and noticed two of them are unusually stiff. One so much so that it is very hard to secure on the cleat. What could I do to soften these lines?

Fabric Softener

A good washing in mild detergent to remove any saltwater buildup followed by a long soak in diluted fabric softener is a good thing to try. Works here in Texas.

Different types of line.

David: There are different types of twisted line. I think that some of it has a harder finish to prevent chafing. You may want to pick some new Dock Lines and see if it helps. To soften the current ones, put them in a pillow case and wash them in the washing machine, use a liberal amount of Downey Fabric Softener during the rinse cycle.
