I have a 1987 E35 Mark 3. The engine throttel lever on the pedistal is very stiff. I have tried lubricating it, without success. Is replacing the cable a workable solution? Any other suggestions?
Like Tom said, replacing the cable will help only if the problem is the cable. You need to first determine what is the problem. I would suggest disconecting the cable from the shift box. If it is still stiff, it's not the cable.
