Tachometer is "stuck" and doesn't show engine revs?

Mine sticks on occassion...either at 0 or 5500....also I have an issue with starter motor ....Yanmar sevice says both related and wiring needs to be thoroughly checked out...next week it will be in for warranty and I'll report what's up (3YM)

The tach on my 2007 which we bought new in June 2009 broke last month. My marina happens to be a Yanmar dealer and replaced it free since it has a 2 year warranty, starting from when we bought the boat. A pleasant surprise since a new tach was nearly $400.00
