Free! (almost) Florida Boat Registration!!!!

Stick it to the Man per the Man!
I just renewed my sailboat registration for my 1981 Hunter 27. It was going to cost me $124.00. I have learned sailboats in Florida that are 30 years old can be registered as "Antiques". The sailboat must have the original engine and cannot be used for commercial purposes. It was as simple as filling out a form and providing it to the Tax Collectors office. My new cost for my registration was $6.75 for admin fees! I love paying taxes just as much as the next guy but I won't be paying $124.00 to sail my antique sailboat!

Now if I could just convince the IRS and the state of Fl that I'm an antique too;).
Thanks for the heads up. There'll be plenty of guys who'd miss this loop hole.

That is the form. Although mine didn't have the line for the marine surveyor. Just my signature was needed. and $6 for processing fee. You also have the option of an addtional sticker showing your boat is an "antique". I didn't want to brag.

Is this rule in force in any other state? I guess I'll have to check with the Michigan secretary of state. Good info though...
