Beneteau OC400 Long Beach, CA
Hi,Fellow Bene owners; I have a problem that other might have, too. The piece of vinyl rub rail that goes around the stern of my '94 OC400 needs replacing. I ordered the piece from Beneteau, but they sent the wrong one and when I spoke to them again, they said the kind that fits my boat is no longer being made. Does anyone know of a source for that piece of vinyl around the stern? Does anyone else have this problem, because I might be able to find some, but I have to buy a huge piece, much more than I need. Maybe someone wants to go halves with me, or something. At this point, I'm desperate.

Rub Rail

Don't know if your rub rail is beyond repair, but mine was ugly, yellowing, black streaked, and had chunks and dangling chads. I was able to make it look pretty much like new using wet sandpaper of different grades. Mostly 1000 grit for the major surfaces, and something a little more aggressive for smoothing the gouges.

Thanks, Jeff, but it's pretty much beyond, since I'd already cut off some dangling chunks and the yard removed the rest. NEW DEVELOPEMENT!! Beneteau e-mailed me to say that they (Walt) doesn't understand how I got a different piece of rubber, since they've only ever used one shape! I'm trying to put the yard and Beneteau in contact so I'm not the middle man all the time.

best way to clean the rub rail...

Best way to clean the rub sail is an SOS pad. I used to scrub and scrub and put all kinds of chemicals on it. An SOS pad makes it look new!
