Memory fades----and word of warning
I did the conversion 2 or 3 winters ago and consider it well worth the time and money. (If you haven't bought yet, hold off till you can get it at a boat show. You can save in the vacinity of $50 at a show from Sail-Net (JSI) or the like.)I'm ashamed to admit I looked at the seal less than twice the entire season this year. It's so reliable I put a battery box/shelf in above it because I now have no worries about having to get in there to adjust packings. This is another item I REALY intend on posting to the Photo Forim!)As far as the size, check the archives. I can't remember the size, but at this point I would think Kevin Woody should have the application. Either way you have to measure because there's no way of knowing what Hunter used. Whatever was at hand on the shelf there might have been different than what was there in '83 when mine was built. So check carefully. Now the word of warning. When you do the install look VERY closely at the bolts that hold in the stern tube. On my 1983 33 they were very long and were just making contact with the rubber bellows. A few hours of rubbing would have produced holes and a VERY unhappy Me. I used a small air operated die cutoff tool , (abrasive cut-off) but if you're a patient contortionist you might be able to get them with a hand hack saw. While you're back there take a look at the packing nut on your rudder tube and see how badly it's corroded away. It's likely there's very little left. If so you might want to fix that.
