Hauling soon to replace rudder. Want to change stuffing box also. Anyone know the stern tube outside diameter? Hunter was not sure. dharrison159@cox.net

Measure it

When you haul out, you should be able to easly measure the O.D. using a micrometer. If you don't have one, borrow one. I highly recommend you use a PYI dripless seal and get away from the old stuffing box concept. It is definitely worth the money. I replaced mine and could not be happier. Good luck.

Desire measurement before haul

Have micrometer but desire to order the PYI part prior to haul out. Can't get a good measurement without removing the hose and clamps. Don't want to do that in the water. Yard fees here are $17 per day. Don't really want to pay that while waiting days for the part.

If anyone needs to know it's 1 3/4". PSS Shaft seal on order.
