Stern Tube Nut Sizes

Hello again Everyone,I have a 1983 Catalina 30 with a Universal 25 engine,my drive shaft is 1.0" Dia., Does anyone know the sizes of the nuts on the stern tube packing gland.I am going to make the wrenches for them and I was wondering if anyone has the sizes.Thanks in advanceJack

Channel Locks

Jack,I perfer two pair of channel-locks.One to hold the tube side and one for the nut. You can use these for other things but those packing glad wreches are extra baggage in an already packed boat. Sorry, no sizes for you but I thought I'd give you something to think about.r.w.landau

Big Nuts

I have a Hunter 376 in SD. I keep two adjustable wrenches for the packing gland nuts. The wrenches are made for the job and only cost about $10 each at West Marine.
