Stern Shower covers

My plastic covers for the stern shower have disintegrated. The plastic is brittle and fell apart. These are only 2 years old and have failed, is this normal? Is there a sealer that I could have used and how long would that have kept it? Is there a stainless replacement? Also it seems that the dogs on the hatches seem to need some protectant to keep them from becoming brittle and decaying. I use a sealant but it does not seem to make a big impact. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated...

I had the same problem Kevin

It is not the material per-se but its contact with fuel. In our boat before I realized it, spill fuel tended to drip onto the plastic covers and in exactly 2 years one of them (the one covering the valve) fell apart and the other is still hanging in but may do so soon. So far I have not yet replaced them but I believe have seen replacements at WM (I think). If you find them let me know.

Replacement part available at...

Assuming Beneteau has remained consistent with their supplier, I experienced a similar problem (the tab that holds the cover to the rim of the cover deteriorated) and I ordered a replacement shower cover directly from Plastimo. Try sending direct email to dkelley@plastimousa.com
