Lee; Catalina Direct in their catalog has a whole package deal for this type of thing. I have a 77 C-22 and after cleaning the screens and checking the outlet I have not had any problems this year so far. We of course have not had the rain you just had . Good Luck in any case JIm Hanbeury "Lauar B" C-22 8084 Toms River NJ

Stern Scuppers vs cockpit drain

The handbooks that I have seen recommend keeping the wheel valve closed when the boat is moored. This seems strange in that it would allow the cockpit to fill with rainwater and overflow into the cabin area. The stern scuppers seem to me to be an excellent safety measure even if you don't close the wheel valve. Any ideas as to why they recommend keeping the wheel valve closed? Bob

Stern scuppers revisited

Bob; I haven,t the foggiest idea why they would say to keep the gate valve closed while moored/docked. I found out the hard way to make sure the valve is opned and clear with several inches of nasty water in the boat when I purchased it. It had been a rental boat for a local marina.I always make sure the screen are clear before exiting the boat when finished. Jim Hanebury C-22 8084 "Laura B" Toms River
