stern rudder

Hello everyone,

I am looking fore de size and shape (nacra profile) fore a rudder at
the stern of my vega to replace the existing rudder for better
autopilot responce and general steering.
Does anyone now of someone who has build one.

Hi Erwin

The Vega Help Rudder is available in Kit Form. It make sthe Vega almost like
driving a car backwards. Takes about two days to fit but really works well. If
you need some more details then email me at:

Hi Steve,
I own "Erendira," Vega 2947. I'm curious about this rudder kit. I'm going to haul her out sometime within a year to paint her, and this rudder kit you're talking about is intrigueing. Is there any information on the web about it or other literature/photos to be had?

Thank's,

I know about de help rudder, but i am looking for a rudder all the
way aft on the stern(don't know the correct word).
That wil replace de original rudder.
I have seen them on some danisch vega's.
I left a message on there buletin , but i don't know if it got there
because it was all in danisch.

Hi

The rudder you want is called a "Transom hung Rudder". These are available in Sweden or Denmark. Contact Walther Nerving (VODA President) as he knows where to get them. Walther knows the man that makes them and I think his name is Morgen. Walther's email address is

He speaks perfect English as well.
