Are there any options for stern rail seats if my stern rail is only a single rail? Is there any other aftermarket company that makes anything similar? I have a 1978 H-27 . Joe

Welder

I had a similar question regarding my 1990 Vision 32. You might try contacting a welder in your area to make you stern pulpits that include seats just like the new Hunter models.

You can contact Tops In Quality. They can modify your existing stern pulpits (about $200 each). I think that there site is www.topsinquality.com

Soft seats

Check out Don Casey's book "100 FAST AND EASY BOAT IMPROVEMENTS" It includes a pushpit seat plan.It is simply a 3 cornered hammock type seat lashed to stern rails.I have not tried it yet but plan to soon. This is a must have book. Justin Meddock

Wood Stern seat

I built a mahogany (sealed w/ Teak stain) seat that spans from one side to the other. Our 1979 H 27 has two-rail stern pulpits ( corners?) so the seat rest on the lower rail. The lumber was 5/4s and the attachment is simple: there is a 1" by 5/4s wood strip on both sides of the rail which the seat rests on and the angle of the rail prevents the seat from for/aft movement. The is a notch in the middle of the rear most board to accomodate the aft stay. The only down side to the seat is that it is another level to climb over to get to the swim ladder. The plus side is that is adds seating in the corners as well as a nice long seat tostretch out on.Cost of wood was about $30. We later added a cushion to match our cockpit cusions. I have also seen add-on corner seats in catalogs which would add seating but not a nice long platform. They were about $80-100 each.

BIG COOLER

I HAVE A 84 27 AND HAVE HAD IT SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. I HAVE TRIED ALOT OF DIFFERENT SEATS AND STILL FEEL THAT A BIG IGLOO COOLER WORKS THE BEST. IT GIVES YOU ALOT OF SPACE AND THE PERFECT HEIGHT TO SEE OVER THE CABIN.
