Has anyone installed stern rail seats on a 37C, either by modifying the stern rail or finding a suitable "clamp on" product?

Not me, but. . . .

I have considered it. There is the H34 Photo Forum item(Related Link) that looked interesting when it was first posted. And I think you will find the seats available here in the HOW store. My H37C has so much stuff mounted on the rails that I wonder if there is room to do this?

We added manufactured perch seats. They clamp on and give better visability. I can't recall the brand, but if interested I will look it up. They also have a web site. The 1st set was for a H34, no wonder they didn't fit well. The ones for the H37C fit better, but if I had it to do again, I would drill the seat support post myself. I ended up putting washers under the mounting to angle the leg away from the side. Larry - Hornizon - H37C

Stern Rail Seats - Picture

See attached picture of the seat. Note: Distant from support tube to side. As I said earlier, I had to place a couple of washers under the mount to get a better angle. If I did it again, I would request that they do not drill the mounting holes. I believe the mount can be placed closer to the seat edge.

Larry, is that the port side seat

in the photo? If I understand your mounting complaint, it is that the support leg base could have been moved a couple of inches closer to the rear locker hatch and thus the top of the leg closer to the front edge of the seat for better support.

Stern Rail Seats - Port side

Yes, I only mounted the port side for the photo op.. We store them in the qtr berth. The concern with moving the support has more to do with rubbing on the side and eliminating abrasion.
