Forth sail of the season yesterday. It was the Bay of Quinte Belleville to Trenton race so the Kids was put through its paces. Along with the Admiral we also had a crew of two extras as well as all the Kids cushions and equipment/stores installed. Fortunately we did not put the aft bunk cushion's in and it was a good thing as we found a leak which on initial investigation seems to be coming from the stern area approximately just to left of the motor. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my h26 and only while sailing. The water was coming in through a small hole in the stern behind the bed in the area where the battery resides. After we got the boat on the trailer, we put the air gun in the hole which led to a void in the fiberglass and while standing outside saw water spraying out of the glued connection of the hull and top joint at the stern. The glue joint was leaking all over. I had to remove quite a bit of the glue and redo it. Here are pictures. I only removed glue and the fiberglass was not damaged.

Not sure of your description. Was the water coming from topsides or the hell to deck joint?

If it was the hull to deck joint, then remove the rubrail insert and then the rub rail which is screwed in. The photos above show the marine putty that was removed and the easy way is with a dremel. I have used a two part epoxy called water tite which dries overnight. Then take the rub rail and make sure you use a sealant where the screws go in which I use 5200.

you can contact me at davecondon@mindsrping.com and give me a number whichh to reach you at so I can call to advise. I know this boat too well. I was involved with the development, intordueced it and outsold all dealers. I am retired but working harder rebuilding boats that scouts seem to tear up.

I found more than just condensation this weekend. Looks like I need to butyl tape seal the bolts for the rudder. I have damp wall carpeting where the through bolts are inserted. It will have to wait until I haul the boat out in two years.
