Hi all,

I'm trying to find a replacement u channel rubber u profile rubber to go around the stern deck and hull joint. The thickness of the joint is 18mm.

I have contacted hunter and they have me the original manufactures however try did not reply to my mail.

Does anyone know where I can get this? I'm in the UK but would have it shipped from anywhere if I could get a good match.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Matt

Did you try right here in the store section of this site?

They are the Hunter parts suppliers and they really are amazing at helping find parts for specific models. Even if it's not listed on the site, drop them a note. They work really hard at finding what you need and I think do it at fair prices.
They've helped me several times even to the point of sending me a note saying they think I ordered the wrong part for my boat and that what I really wanted was XXXX and would I like them to change the order?

Ok, I've done this job, and it's tricky. You will need to follow my advice, or end up covered in 5200, without the job working out at all.
The u channel is very rigid stuff. It is quite difficult to work onto the hull joint, and keep in place.
Here is what you need :
A whole bunch of small (6 inch or so) C clamps.
Lots of small wood blocks 1/2" thick about 4x4 inches
A large metal metal garbage can.
A bunch of kettles, or a bbq with some large pots.
First, take off the old rubber channel. This may be challenging if the original 5200 is still holding well.
Here is how to do this, without breaking your back.
Get a long line, approx 75 feet.
Use a bunch of snatch blocks, pulleys, or whatever.
The trick is to use one of your cockpit winches to run a line to an anchor point astern of the boat amidships. Then rip the channel off at one end.
Drill a hole through it, affix a shackle, and tie the rope.
Or, if you have a boat on the hard in front of you, maybe you can use their windlass.
You get the idea.
Once the channel is off, prep the whole area.
You may need to re-glass the joint at water level.
Next, put the new u channel into the garbage can
Add really hot water. Let it soak, and wait until the channel softens, so that it will be pliable.
When you install it, literally fill it with 5200. You will need lots, so buy extra.
As you put it on, clamp with blocks every 2 feet or so.
Make sure to have a good amount of squeeze out, and blend it well
Good luck!
