The 1985 H31 deck-hull joint near the transom has the deck molding hanging over the hull and is unsupported for about the last 6 inches of the deck. This deck overhang on my port side has been smacked twice (once by me, once by previous owner) by inadvertently striking a piling while backing into slips. The damage goes beyond gel coat cracking. There is about a two inch square portion of the glass mat at the corner that has been crushed. My Fiberglass man is going to repair, grind out the corner, re-glass, and redo the gel coat. The quote for this repair is $395. Question: Since this appears to be such a vulnerable spot on the H31, this must have happened to other owners. Are there any fittings that that can be applied protect the aft corners? Of course better dockmanship will always help but sh.. happens. It’s hard to see how a fender could be used to protect the corner. Bill EblingYesterday's Dream1985 H31Crab Alley BayKent Island MD
