Here in Maine we have a very short season. June through august is the window. Since I also ice sail, I find sailing through september on cool, crisp, short, crystal clear days, very rewarding. The pay back is a substantial one. Having friend to help you trailer the boat out of the water and step down the mast is a lot to ASK! The mast base on my '75 catalina 22 is very shifty. It hinges on two very small pins which love to jump out from the track while lowering the mast. How can I secure the mast base so this doesn't happen, and can I maybe use a block and line attached to my jib halyard to lower it safely by myself?? Can't sail enough Carlos...
