I am having a problem finding the proper swaged appendage which is attached to the chain drive on the steering mechanism. Also I would like to know if I should affix a steering stop on the starboard quadrant below the helm column.
Replaced mine on H-30 1977 (MerrimanPedestal) two months ago. The fitting at end of chain broke in two while sailing. Edsen has the parts but for about $150. I found an exact replacement from Sailorman in Ft.Lauderdale for $25. Included new SS chain, end fittings, and SS cables. Try them over the net. URL is <<www.sailorman.com>> Good luck, Henry
