I have a problem with the Merriman steering system on my 1982 Ericson 33. A pin seems to be missing that keeps the shaft from slipping out. Just inside the pedestal, after of the sprocket, the shaft goes through a collar that is also the brake drum. There is a hole that goes through the collar and the shaft. It seems like there is suppose to be some kind of pin through this hole to keep the shaft from slipping aft. I can't find any kind of parts diagram on the system. I do not know whether there should be a roll pin in the hole. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
