We are shopping for Catalina 30's. Someone told me to make sure we get a 1980 or newer because the older ones used steel and the newer ones use stainless. Appreciate any opinions.

I have a 79 C30. Not sure if the keel bolts are steel or SS but I have never had any problems with them. I have owned my boat for 6 yrs.
If there is problems, a good marine surveyor should be able to find it in a heart beat.

I've had my 1976 C30 (hull #231)for 11 years. It has the original steel keel bolts. It doesn't seem to present a problem.
