Greetings,

I have a combination steaming and foredeck light. I think it may be a Forespar, but I'm not sure. I have no record of it, and only a crude pic:

The steaming light is out. I'd like to purchase an LED bulb for it to hand to the guy at the boatyard who's to go up and replace it.

Does anyone recognize this light? Know the bulb?

p.s. I had zero luck searching for Forespar, etc.

Thanks,

jv

I replaced the deck light bulb. The bulb you are looking for is listed on the last photo, part number 8GA 003 488-301 12V, you need the LED replacement.
Visit HELLA MARINE 8GA 003 488-301 | Bulb 25 WATTS 12 VOLTS $ 15.98
for the original bulb.
Ah, thank you. So you figure it's the Hella combination light? I pulled on that thread and found the masthead, i.e., steaming light for that fixture is a festoon bulb, SV 8.5. So, I'd need the LED version of that.

Thanks,

jv

It looks like it's a 31mm festoon bulb, the "premium" version is $29 at West Marine, in stock.

Whoops, maybe not a navigation light bulb...the search continues.

Found Dr. LED replacement at Defender. Now, what else do I need from Defender? I always remember after I've place my order!

Guess it depends on how much you motor or motor sail at night & the life expectancy of LED vs incandescent for your usage. I recently replaced the deck light in the combo deck steaming light: however, I opted to allow the incandescent light to remain, as batteries are being charged while under power.

Yes, I get that. Incandescent were $1.88, LED $28.99! But, considering the cost of having someone at the boat yard swap it, it's cheap.
