Be aware that there is a great deal more to rig tuning than stay tension. That said 15 - 20% of breaking strength of the shrouds is the accepted number. Determine the size of cable used and then use 15 - 20% of that number. For example, 1/4" 1X19 316 stainless cable has a minimum breaking strength of 7460 lbs. 15% X 7460 = 1119 lbs; 3/16" 1X19 is 4190 which means the shrouds should be set at 628 lbs.
