The stay sail boom end fitting attaches to the gooseneck stay with a thru bolt and has lots of free play. The slot is about 1" larger than the fitting. Should I have thrush washers on the bolt to minimize the slop on the fitting?? Or should it be loose to swing better???

Thanks
Jose

Try large s.s. washers for spacers for now.... Then start looking to replace goose neck. Looks like the pot metal aluminum is fixing to just start crumbling.

some big-ole fat nylon washers on each side.. won't cause further corrosion..

We just call it Fertitta Vill around here. I have only visited it two times sense he took it over, to crowed for me. Some of us have stopped coming to our boats over the weekends to much of a zoo as well as being a inconvenience for the locals. Basically disturbing the piece and the quite we had before. THANK YOU TILMAN WERE IS MY FARE SHARE ???:cussing::cussing::cussing:"Sorry had to vent some" Monday thru Friday is best. Less problems with speed boaters trying to run you down in the Clear Lake Channel or Bay..... Plus the local Kemah police seem less stressed during the weekday and less likely to be grumpy and yell at you !
"Corrosion" We live and breath it even 35 mile inland. Do you remember Jimmy Walkers?
I am sorry weren't we talking about Lose Goose Necks?

My staysail gooseneck had this play and it cause the hole in the part the attaches to the inner forestay to elongate. I had a machinist open the hole round again and create a stainless steel pressed in spacer to fix the elongation and the play between the parts.

I am in the process of repainting all these parts, along with booms and mast but I like the idea of nylon washers if the bolt hole hasn't elongated on your gooseneck.

I've attached some pictures of what I did.

I thought there was already a bushing in that hole. If not then adding one as mentioned above is a good idea. Plus the nylon washers.
