I have a h23 85 with a Kenyon mast. The stays are original, and they are a ticking timebomb. I noticed the forestay was starting to frey. I need to replace all the stays and wanted to know what is the easiest way. Do I take all the stays off and match them, or does anyone have the measurements. Thanks Dave

seco south

all of my rigging, (86, h23 w/ kenyon mast), is at seco south right now being redone in 3/16". quite reasonable and even more so had i stayed with 5/32". i'm sure they would build just a forestay. it was chaper than i could buy the parts and do it myself. william

replacing stays

I have an 89 h23, I gradually replaced my stays doing uppers one year , lowers the next etc > I did so because of things I had read either online or in magazines I took mine off and took them to a local rigger and actually helped him make the new ones . It is not a hard thing to do if you have the fittings and a swagger. At one point he ask me why I was replacing one set and I replied because of age > He said if they looked good and werent frayed then they are still good and that age alone does not mean they need replaced . This is just his opinion that I am passing on to you . Have you checked with the chandlery here to see if they carry them ? good luck ?Mike

Repalced mine 2 seasons ago

Dave, I replaced mine on an 85 H23. Mine too did not look worn but I figured it was time and cheap insurance. I used "sailnet" on the internet. I just sent them the existing rigging and they made up a new set to the old set's dimensions. I highly recommend you replace the standing rigging; it's better than the alternative! /Chuck S/V Windsongs H23
