Hello all,

I have noticed in the CDI Furlers information sheet "Which CDI Furler Do I need" (found here and elsewhere), that for the Hunter 23, I need a 12" Linkplate.

I looked around some, but wasn't able to find one that long. I called CDI and they directed me to West Marine, telling me that it was in their catalog. I couldn't find one on WM's website though perhaps it doesn't reflect the whole catalog?

What link plates have you used? Perhaps I could make one out of 1/8" x 1" SS316 bar? Any patterns out there?

Also, I have read that the stay length is 27' 11¾". If I subtract 12" for an extension, and 13" for a CDI furler, it looks like the maximum luff height of my sails can be 25' 10¾". Does this jive with your experience? Am I missing anything?

A 12 inch link-plate is AWFULLY long. We used two 4-inch plates side-by-side on our First 235 and that seemed iffy.

Anyone out there, can you post a photo of the current supplied Hunter tang used for a CDI furler along with length/width/thickness please. The holes drilled I would assume would be for a 1/4 inch clevis pin.

I have seen the use of a dual turnbuckle set up but would ill advise against that as you have to secure any fixed base bottom drum to keep that from turning thus the tangs.

I would appreciate some help here folks.

Thanks Tom. I am returning home to live this fall as the house is under construction near Iron Gate with 340 degree view of the mountains and overlook the beginning of the James River. Hope to see you sometime in the future along with Rgranger too. I have missed the lake.
