Finding Source of Leaks
To help owners on HOW find a leak, you have to provide us very specific details. Finding the source of a leak is NOT always that easy. You can not provide too much info. Asking here on HOW is a great place to start. We have had our share of leaks on our 97 40.5 over the years. Only leak in that area was from the starboard fresh water belly tank from around screw holes and the inspection port. The tank is under the sole in front of the settee. On port tack water would show itself under the settee and Nav station area. It could also be from your fresh water piping, manifold, strainer or pump. There is a vented loop for the head behind and aft of the Breaker Panel that could be a source. Also the holding tank is under the sole inboard of the Nav station and the macerator pump is on the hull under the Nav station table but if they were leaking I think you would know it. Leaks could come from hull to deck joint, life line stanchion, holding tank pumpout deck fitting or around the fixed port (not too likely).Does it only show up after a heavy rain, filling the belly water tank or excessive healing? The source of the leak could be 'miles' from where you first see water. So track back and play Sherlock Holmes.Good luck!
