Just wondering what every one uses to clean the the starboard on their Hunter
cockpit table and cup holders.
I find this rough surface very hard to keep it looking nice.

Not sure if you already found this at the manufacturer's web site:

"King StarBoard® is very chemically resistant and most common detergents and cleaners work well. You can use a nylon “scrubby” or stiff bristle nylon brush but care should be taken because excessive force can mar the finish.

Bleach can be applied and allowed to soak to help lift persistent stains. Pressure washing is also an acceptable method of cleaning. To clean a petroleum problem such as grease or oil, use citrus cleaner, alcohol, or mineral spirits. Care must be taken to avoid contact with pencil lead or prolonged contact with teak oil and other oil based products as these do not clean well and may cause staining.
Furniture polish or products such as Armor-All® can add an attractive luster to the finish and hide small mars on the product's surface."

On our companionway doors, I've found bleach and a scrub brush does a nice job.

I would think something like Softscrub w/bleach would be a good cleaner. Remember, polyboard is used in kitchens and is approved for food handling. So you can scrub and disinfect it.

Magic Eraser

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or the Wal*Mart knock offs called Miracle Cleaning Eraser work very well and require no chemicals just water..

Looks like another good day for sailing tomorrow.

Doors

Hi Don, do you have any pictures of the Starboard companionway doors on your boat? I found none in the 40.5 Hunter Owner Improvements section.

I never bothered to take pics Terry sorry to say. They are on the boat which I won't be getting to for a couple of weeks.
I looked at the Zacor doors, also made from Starboard, and simply copied them except mine are solid material with permanent lexan windows. First time ever using a router but that stuff is very easy to work with. If you are considering making something like this, the only caution I'd offer is that my companionway isn't symetrical, i.e., the doors are not duplicates of each other.

Comet or Ajax and a brush will clean up Starboard nicely. At less than a buck for a can this fits the cheapest of sailors budgets!!
