Stantion bases

Hello H44 (or similar) owners.
I need to remove the stantion posts and that looks easy enough as one Phillips screw holds the post to the base…… except at the gates where the brace is screwed to the toe hold. There is no access below and I’m assuming the machine screw has a threaded backer? Anyone checked this? Thanks

I think you have your answer about an imbedded aluminum plate. I would use plenty of of penetrating oil and then an impact driver.
