I need a tapered stansion and stansion base for my '85 Hunter 31. The stansion is 24" long; tapered; with 2 lifeline openings. Hunter Marine's answer is that I should contact the manufacturer!

Stanchion replacements

Contact the sales staff at the HOW site. They can get these for you.

Hunter is absolutely no help!

I appreciate your suggestion to all Hunter Marine. However, they don't make the base that I need; nor do they know of any other company that makes tapered stantions. Their suggestion is that I should go to an aluminum fabrication shop and have one custome made! These are the dumbest people that I have ever done business with!

This is the HOW site :)

Hunter never made those aluminum bases, they bought them from a supplier that has since quit making them. Due to the high cost of start-up for aluminum components no one else has stepped up to build the dribble of orders that come in for replacements. It's hard to anticipate what suppliers are going to do, and while using aluminumm maybe wasn't the best idea, it's somewhere short of stupid, IMHO. Give us a call here -- we can get you something that will work but it doesn't look quite the same.

Stanchions or bases?

What is required the stanchions or the bases? The bases are made from an aluminum extrusion. The stanchions are the same as for any other boat, you just need to get the correct style.
