I have a Helms25 with two drains in the cockpit but there always seems to be more water standing in the rear of it. Had thoughts of adding either one or two drains in the stern of the cockpit but not sure if I should splice they to the other drain hoses or set them up as another thru hul in the transom. Getting to the other drain hoses wouldn't be a problem, although a squeeze.

Pictures would help. Fewer through hulls are always better. Finally, is the boat properly balanced front and rear. Sometimes just moving a little weight around helps cockpit drainage. It made a big change in how my cockpit drained and made the boat faster.

Rear cockpit scuppers are very easy to put in, and is a nice improvement, especially if you get pooped. Cheap too, you can practically build them with P.V.C. and sealer.
Or ready made plastic for just a few bucks.

My intuition tells me that rear transom through hull drains would be better than splicing into existing lines. Especially if the exits are above the water line. If you splice and then get debris in the plumbing, the entire system is backed up. And additional drain lines would allow for faster drainage in the event that you get pooped.
