I wanted to adjust the tension on my standing rigging so I checked the arcjhives for the numbers. I found discussion about the H26 and 3/16" rigging. I remebered measuring mine and thought it was 5/32". I bought the smaller Loos gauge hoping my memory served me correctly. When I got to the boat I checked again and sure enough they were 5/32". I then checked the manual to be sure and the H260 manual lists 5/32" standing rigging. The bottom line is if others are tuning their H260's to tensile specs for the the H26 they are to tight and in danger of hardware failure. FYI Michael Stephens S/V Pure Heaven

260 vs 26

I have the manual for a '97 H26 in front of me right now. Shrouds and forestay are 3/16". Is it possible that that the 260 uses lighter duty, 5/32", rigging???

260 Rigging

I have double checked my manual. 5/32" standing rigging. I wonder why they went down in size. Can we hear from other 260 owners about their wire dia? Michael Stephens S/V Pure Heaven

Speculation...

The 260 has, I believe, a lighter mast due to the ridgid struts that were added to support the mast and aid in raising lowering the mast. Perhaps the struts and/or lighter mast allowed use of lighter standing rigging, as well. Fair winds... Tom
