I've looked at a S2 11.0A to purchase and was wondering if it is possible to remove the stanchions and rebed them. The two bolts that go through the deck appear (relatively) easy to get to, but what about the two that go through the bulwark? Is there a nut on the back or is there a backing plate glassed into the bulwark? I didn't see any access to the back of those bolts from the inside.
Thanks for any tips.

yes there are nuts ,lock washers and flat washers under there .....you have to pull the liner material back away from the area where the fasteners come through the deck on the inside it is not an easy access but it needs to be done if you want a dry boat inside...re bead them with butyl tape (get that from maine sail on this site he has the best ) and read his rebedding instructions on his site musings with maine sail ...when done just re glue the liner material with contact cement ...clean up and go sailing good luck

Thanks! I haven't bought her yet, but bedding with butyl is one of the first thing I plan on doing.

Im not sure the stancion platforms are cored.. Looking at mine, the port should be doable. Starboard might require some hole enlargement in the bulkhead but doable. One thing about this boat. Most everything is accessible without taking the whole interior apart. Tanks even go out in one piece.....

Thanks, Mark. Since you also have an 11.0a, is your hull/deck joint through bolted everywhere every 6"? The one I looked at was through bolted in some places, but screwed in others. The Practical Sailor review says through bolted every 6", but it also mentions an aluminum toe rail, which is clearly not true.
