Stanchions lean out, get bumped, can they be bent?

As the Hunter 34 owners are aware, the stanchions lean out. So when you pull up to the fuel dock, the stanchions take a beating. Has anyone bent the stainless tubes back inward so that they don't extend past the toe rail. ? How.. With What?

Seaway Locks wall

I just replaced 2. They can be bent inward. All you have to do is come in a little fast against a solid dock or wall. You can't unbend them unless you take them to a shop. Heating will turn them blue, but then again, some might say it will match the boot stripes. Seriously, a shop doing Biminis and dodgers should be able to bend them since they bend tubing. Good Luck.
