The cone shape tops of the stanchions on my H-33 are coming apart, dose any one know if the top cone only is available?

Mine are old (1981) and starting to crack and break. I'm considering my options, on the bottom of my option list is replacement of the the posts. My wife said it would be cheaper and easier to simply have new tops made at a local machine shop that slid over the current post. She than said that a pair of set screws would hold it to the original post. I thought it was a very good idea, even for a girlie. Has anyone else done something similar or am I going do the road of crappy engineering inc.

I have seen this on several H-30,H-33s. I made a cone with epoxy and drilled a lifeline hole in it,as a temp solution. It may just be somithing Chernbini Hunter owners need to watch out far. Thanks Ed & Steven Will S/V Pearl

Lucked out I guess.
My '79 H37C stanchions do not have a separate top. They are one piece with holes and a ferrule in the hole. At least there is one thing that I don't have to worry about.
