Stanchion base

Hi Peter and all who follow the messages. We upgraded our stancions awhile back to a heavier duty model. Lyric's original stancions were ridicously short and had only a single wire. Pushpit was either an option or not available on earlier models. Pullpit didn't have the step through design either. All have been replaced.Lyric is finally back in the water. Motored to her new slip without difficulyt. Electronics have suffered in storage though. Does anyone have a favorite and affordable
GPS they would like to reccomend? Needs to be able to run off of the 12 volt system and preferably have a screen that can display a compass bearing to steer to.Thoughts on this would be helpful. It's a rocky shore with lots of reefs and fog.To: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com

Wondering if anyone (Walt?) has a couple of good Vega stanchion bases for sale. They're identical to the ones on the Albin ballad I'm restoring, and I need at least two.

They look like this:

Thanks!

I use the Garmin 76CsX. Its a handheld that will run on batteries or plug into a 12 volt receptacle. It takes micro SD cards, so you can add maps as needed.

I have a 76Cx also and you can find some pretty good deals on them as a newer model is out. Of course mine doesn't show me much being on the hard. But soon...

Jack, Peter, Ric and Tom, Thanks for the information. I'm looking hard at a couple of them. Are the included chips (City navigator and Bluechart for east coast, florida, gulf coast, west coast and alaska) adequate for naqvigation or do I have to spend another another 150.00 for the appopropriate Bluechart? Thanks again, Walt
