At the local hardware store, Lowes, Home Depot, I'm not able to find Stainless Steel staples of the T50 variety larger than 3/8". One box labeled "for marine use" had fine print on the back of the box: "Do not use with pressure treated wood. These will corrode in treated wood."

I would be comfortable with 9/16" staples, anyone have a source?

Starting internet hunt also.

Thanks,

Dave.

McMaster Carr or Jamestown Distributors. Maybe Hamilton Marine. Happy hunting.

I believe it was "monel" on the boxes that had the warning on the back.

Monel Staples

We use the monel staples on the bunk carpet in the pressure treated bunks. The staples outlast the carpet if that is what you are working on. You can also use galvanized roofing nails and although the pressure treated wood will take it's toll on those as well they will out last the bunk carpet. Stainless steel roofing nails will outlast the carpet and the bunk but really unnecessary.

SAILRITE had a sale on staple guns[last week] and I bought one of the 1/2" inch wide [staple width] guns. I also purchased stainless steel staples. Check their web site for the different sizes in staples they offer. They vary both in width and length.

I have both 3/8" and 1/2" wide guns. I use the 1/2" for cloth to wood attachments, mostly for reupholstery of furniture. I picked up the ss staples to use on some outdoor projects.

Amazon might have staples that would work for you.
