Over the winter one of my chainplates developed a leak & stained the top of the bulkhead between the main & forward cabins. I've checked a few internet woodworking sites & talked to a furniture refnisher to no avail. Does anyone have a fix ?? Thanks

Tuff problem if your trying to match the original finish. Before you try, make sure there is no rot and it is completely dried out.

This happened the first winter I had Hull #147, my first new boat.
As you can imagine I was pretty pi--ed.
The dealer at first said that Catalina had agreed to replace the bulkhead... I was having visions of them cracking the hull/deck joint amongst other possible damage when the dealer renegged on the agreement.
Instead he had the boat dried out, recaulked the chainplates (which seem to have gone through several arrangements over the 2-3 yrs of production) and then they trimmed the deck bulkhead seam out with teak trim.
It looks like a custom built boat, but must have cost a small fortune because my wife complained that the welting around the deck joint at the head bulkhead looked like crap in comparison and he just laughed and walked away.
It isnt a repair, the original staining is still under there.
Thought i had some pictures of it but cant find them right now but included one of the chainplate... no adhesive over most of it...

I don't know if this will be of any help to you but I once inquired to Catalina about any finishing of the woodwork in the cabin. Here was their reply:

Your 310 interior has Target Varnish out of Rutherford, NJ and their number is 800-752-9922 as you can call them for vrnihs if you need it or other tips and ideas. Light, esp sun light has a greater effect on teak than other woods due to it's exotic nature and the amount of natural oil in it. Sometimes it gets lighter, and other times it will get darker over time (particularly if an oil based varnish is used which we havven't usesd since the 80's.) The only thing you want to do over the varnish on the inteirior is to wipe it with a damp cloth or add more varnish if needed. Sprays like Pledge and so forth can have a negative affect on water based varnish.
