I have had both the Doyle Stack Pack and the Neil Pryde Lazy Bag. Best value has been the Lazy Bag. Proper installation is critical to good function. Looks like you are on a lake in the Midwest, do you have a sail loft out there?
Then you will become an expert in the art of rigging a sail bag! I like having the jack lines run to the top spreaders (1’ from the root) not the mast and through a block/padeye back down to a cleat on the mast in front of the bag. This means you will be putting an extra load on the spreaders so you may need to add a clamp to the shroud just below the spreader tip.
Hi All, I’ve decided to try the Pryde Lazy bag. Had a great talk with them and they hit all the points I need to have. Thanks everyone for your input!!
National Sails sells a lazy bag sized to the dimensions of the Catalina 30, either tall or standard.
A little redo of the jacks and for $500.00 dollars, I prefer it to the Doyle Stack pack on a previous boat. http://nationalsail.com/catalina-30-tall-rig-lazy-bag.html
