You can replace the current ST6000 with the ST6000 or the ST6001 . It will work seamlessly. The instructions for entering calibration will be in the new manual that comes with the replacement control head. The connections will be a little different. 1. You will also need some adapter cables if the ST6000 instrument you are replacing already has the round connector SeaTalk cables running to it. We make two adapter cables that are 6 inches long and have the flat connectors on one end and the round connectors on the other. The part numbers for these adapters are D187 and D188. The D188 adapter has the locking collar and the D187 does not. 2. The bulkhead mounting hole is larger on the ST6000 /ST6001 instruments. The hole size them is 90mm (slightly larger that 3.5") and the ST6000 instrument hole size is 2 inches. The ST6000 /ST6001 display has a curved bottom on the facia and is .2 inches taller than the ST6000 series display. You might want to give Raymarine a call at 800 539 5539 to see what software version you have on your course computer. If it is older than 2 years, you might want to think about an upgrade through Raymarine's service center. You will not need to do this for getting the compatibility you are looking for.
