I am in the process of replacing my old ST60 Depth Instrument with a new ST60 Plus. I can visually trace the wiring from the old transducer out of the bilge and through the port side-settee. The wiring then seems to go in back of the nav station and up through the ceiling. My instruments are mounted above the companionway (model 320). MY QUESTION IS... what's the best way to thread the new wiring up to the existing instrument location? Can I thread a fish tape down to the nav station? Need some good advice.

Try This

Try disconnecting the wire from the speed head and tape some strong line or fish line and than pull the wire from the nav station until the line is down back to the nav station and tape the new wire to the line and than pull the new line to the top of the compionway wwhere the speed head is.
i do this alot and even run a second line for future work.

Re: Try This

Thanks, Nick- that makes a lot of sense; I'll give it a try. Regards, Ken

On the depth sounder, my ST60 cannot be disconnected. The wire goes into the unit. Not a problem as you can cut the old one and go by Nick's suggestion. That's what I did on mine. You need to remove the old one first, then insert the new wire in the hole and position the new unit where it's going to be. I also had to cut the new line where the connnectors are because those where in the way when trying to fish. After fishing the new line through, I installed new connectors and it worked good. Good luck

I have used this method successfully on my H320. It took some effort cause my wire chase is tight from a bunch of stereo wires in there too. Attaching a schematic of the wire chase from the owners manual in case you want it.

I recently did the same replacement on my 380. On the advice of Raymarine I used the existing wire. They said its standard practice to just cut the wire off and use the included spade connectors to attach each wire directly to the new instrument. I did this with all 3 new ST60+ instruments
