Made some modifications on my installation
Scott,I put the Raytheon 5000 on my H380 but because I was concerned that the motor was not strong enough, substituted a Winlock motor from PYI. You can buy the Raytheon 5000 without motor but it has all the rest of the gear.It was an easy installation--two of us took about a day to do everything. I installed the compass in the aft bedroom dead center in the bottom storage shelf. The Winlock motor is large but fits in the podium quite well. The chain fit on the Edson shaft without a problem. Our biggest problem was doing the installation on the program part where you have to go around in a circle several times to get the compass set up.The Raytheon 5000 and Winlock has worked well for me for about one year. Here in the Northwest it is great to sit under the dodger while the rain is coming down. I do wish it had a remote. We did have a start a month or so ago when my wife plugged in the Garmin 175 with the waypoints in it. Suddenly the wheel started moving in small increments--much more than it had be moving. Turns out when the GPS is added, all the instruments talk to each other and the Raytheon 5000 was getting the wind indicator info. It was sailing the boat better than I had been doing. Fun stuff.Let me know if you have specific questions. I think you'll enjoy the 5000. Good luck.
