Took the mast down last fall and after launch I never got the radar back up. It lights up but doesn't appear to sweep. I am guessing I am not making a good connection on one of the 10 or so tiny wires that must be connected at the radome or mast base? I sailed my past boats on Lake Michigan for 10 years w/o radar and I am wondering if it is worth having. I am surely not going to put any large amounts of money into fixing this. So my questions are 1) Where should I look first to find my problem and 2) Do you really need/use radar on the Lake? Thanks.

I think you diagnosed the problem correctly. If all you did is took it apart to drop the mast then I'd check the connections that you had to mess with first. Could be just a little corrosion on the pins etc. Radar is great when it is your only eyes because of reduced visibility and making landfall after dark.
