KenG,
I didn't get as far as St Vincent but I sailed out of Grenada to Carriacou, Petite Martinique, Petite St Vincent, Union Island Mayreau and Tobago Cays and back to Grenada. It was some great sailing and I know you will have a blast. Leaving from St Vincent you have many choices. You can sail to Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, Union Island.
The following Usual Suspects link have good details on sailing the Grenadines

Go south young man!!! Some of the best sailing in the world short of south Pacific. Lots of wind, good you're in a cat cause it can get really rolly down there. Stay to the lee or west side of the islands best you can going down. 1st stop, Port Elizabeth on Bequia. Great big harbour with lots of room to anchor. In a cat, get up close, south side of Admiralty Bay to cut down dingy rides. Ferry and commercial docks are on north side of bay. "Dive Shop" dock is great place to land to get to the Whaleboner Bar with Mac's Pizza a short stroll south. Do NOT miss lobster pizza at Mac's if they have it. Dingy over to Princess Margaret Beach. Take an island tour to the turtle sanctuary. Next stop, wind on the nose probably, go over to Mustique to see Mick Jagger and Tommy Hilfiger(sp). Basil's Bar in Britannia Bay is very cool. Moorings and anchoring very rolly. Island tour over to Macaroni Bay if you can. Shoot back through the gap between Bequia and Canouan to stay leeward of the trades and head into Charles Bay, just north of Grand Bay on Canouan. Read up on Canouan, never spent much time ashore. Next, hook it around the SE corner of Canouan and go to Mayreau. Great little island with very friendly people. Main town is a big hike up the hill, but worth it. Salt Whistle Bay on the NW coast is great, but very rolly. Better location is on S side, can't remember the name. From Mayreau, go to Tobago Kays and swim with turtles and fight off the "boat boys" selling fish, lobster, ice, whatever...be firm. Do NOT miss Tobago Kays. From there its the windward side of Union Island over to Clifton Harbour. Good shopping to restock wine, groceries, ice, etc. Do NOT miss John T. at Happy Island bar that he built himself out of conch shells. Not just the bar... the WHOLE freakin' island! Petit St. Vincent is due N...small island with all inclusive resort that welcomes yachties into their bar and restaurant and has a killer anchorage protected from the trades. If you continue SE, you leave the Grenadines and have to check into Carriacou where Hillsborough Bay and Sandy Island are the highlights. Sparrow Bay just N of Hillsborough is a great anchorage, but not much to do. From there, Grenada, but if was me, I'd turn back at Union or Petit St. Vincent and go back and hit my favorites going back to St. Vincent. Expect lots of wind 18-22-28, some rain but nothing to ruin your day, fairly big seas with cross seas in the passages between islands, easy anchoring, friendly people. Great area that far too few get down to enjoy!
