I did buy a sail boat in Bath near Kingston ont. I want to sail it down to Montreal, I wonder If anny one would done it and how is the trip.
Is it mostly by motoring or is it possible to sail down.
It look like a nice trip. I would likeb to have some INFO. on it.

We've spent a lot of time on the St. Lawrence, but mostly between Lake Ontario/Kingston and Alex Bay. You can sail a lot of it, but expect your share of commercial traffic in what are relatively tight channels once you get into the heart of the islands. Current charts are a must. I have done this trip plenty of times. We take the boat from Montreal to Kingston and Lake Ontario every year.

Going east, you may get lucky and be able to sail most of the way. You probably already know about the Seaway locks. They are $30 / lock and require at least two able bodied crew members to transit. You will be going down stream so it will be easy peasy in the locks.

We used to do the trip from Brockville to lake St. Louis in about 18 hours, including wait times at the locks.

I have sailed the Gananoque to Thousand Island Bridge leg and my brother lived right on the river in Brockville for years. Prevailing wind in summer is sw and with the current you can make some very good time. Watch out for traffic as those big guys can close distance very quickly. Have good charts and watch them carefully. Have binoculars handy as sometimes the next marker is a ways away.
