Z159 or Masthead Wind Instrument?
Z159:The windvane has four wires coming off of it | red, bare, green, and blue. The interface box will translate the windvane information into SeaTalk for any of the SeaTalk autopilots. The four wires from the windvane should be inserted into the terminals, color for color, on the interface box where it is labeled "WIND". You then need a SeaTalk cable to connect one of the SeaTalk ports on the ST4000 or ST4000 to the Z159 interface box. These three wires (red, yellow and bare) are inserted into the interface box, color for color, where it reads "SeaTalk". There are two SeaTalk buses on the interface box and you can use either one of them. The part number for the appropriate SeaTalk cables are listed below:D284........1 MeterD285........3 MeterD286........5 MeterThen we have to tell the ST4000 or ST4000 to steer a wind angle. This is done by pushing the AUTO and STANDBY keys together momentarily, while steering close to the appropriate wind angle. You can then adjust the wind angle by using the 1, -1, 10 and -10 keys.ST30, ST40, ST50 or ST60 Wind Instrument:If you have one of our ST Wind instruments then the instrument and the ST Autopilot simply need to be connected with a SeaTalk cable. This applies for autopilots and wind indicators that were manufactured within the last ten years.
